Our new STEM Accommodation Scholarship offers up to a year's free accommodation to exceptional international students starting science, engineering and information technology degrees at VU Melbourne. The VU Global Research Scholarship offers 20% off tuition fees for the entire duration of a research degree.

Our exciting merit-based scholarship offers eligible international students free accommodation at UniLodge Victoria University for up to your entire first year of study. Scholarships will be awarded to select offshore international applicants for science, engineering and information technology degrees offered at VU Melbourne, particularly at our Footscray Park Campus, the main hub of our STEM-related courses.

Successful undergraduate applicants will receive one year (52 weeks) of free accommodation at UniLodge VU, valued at $15,548.
Successful postgraduate applicants will receive six months (26 weeks) of free accommodation at UniLodge VU, valued at $8,502.
UniLodge VU is our safe, welcoming and affordable student accommodation complex that’s the perfect place to make new friends.
Accommodation will be in the form of a single room in a 6-bedroom apartment, with mixed- or single-gender options, subject to availability. Room rates at UniLodge VU include unlimited WiFi and all energy bills, so you won’t have to worry about additional costs.
Scholarship recipients are required to pay a UniLodge VU Security Deposit of $1300, which is fully refundable two weeks after the rental contract ends, barring any deductions for property damage. Recipients are also required to pay a UniLodge VU reservation fee of $170 and departure cleaning fee of $170.
You’ll be automatically assessed for the scholarship after submitting your application for an eligible course starting at Victoria University (VU) Melbourne.
If your academic background meets the required level, we will notify you of your eligibility for the scholarship by email. Please follow the instructions to confirm you would like to apply. Unsuccessful applicants will not be notified.

The following terms and conditions govern the STEM Accommodation Scholarship (the "Scholarship") offered by Victoria University Melbourne ("VU"). By applying for or accepting the Scholarship, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
1. Eligibility:
- The Scholarship is open to select offshore international students commencing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in science, engineering or information technology at VU.
- Eligibility will be assessed on merit, based on previous academic results.
- Applicants must be applying from outside of Australia to study at VU.
- Applicants must be over 18 years old when they commence their course at VU.
- New postgraduate students receiving credit (advanced standing) for previous studies are not eligible. New undergraduate students who receive more than 4 units of credit for previous studies are not eligible.
- Existing VU students are not eligible for the Scholarship.
2. Selection & notification:
- The Scholarship is awarded at the sole discretion of VU.
- Successful applicants will be notified of their scholarship offer by email. Unsuccessful applicants will not be notified.
- Scholarship places are limited, and offers are not guaranteed. VU will endeavour to inform eligible applicants of the timeframe within which they must accept their offer. Scholarships will no longer be available after all places are filled.
3. Acceptance & payment:
- Successful applicants must pay the required tuition fee deposit to accept their offer. The remaining balance of tuition fees and any other applicable fees is due before the census date of the course.
- Scholarship recipients are required to pay a UniLodge VU Security Deposit of $1,300, which is fully refundable two weeks after the rental contract ends, barring any deductions for property damage. 4. Scholarship restrictions:
- The Scholarship is not refundable or convertible to cash.

- The Scholarship applies only to eligible students during their period of study at VU and cannot be allocated retrospectively to students who are no longer enrolled.
- Students receiving approved Leave of Absence (Intermission) or reducing their study load after commencing at VU will remain eligible to receive the Scholarship until the stated end date, subject to meeting all other eligibility requirements.
6. Scholarship revocation:
- VU reserves the right to revoke the Scholarship if a student:
- fails to pay all tuition and other applicable fees/costs in full by the census date of each study period.
- fails to meet the conditions of their student visa.
- breaches any of these terms and conditions.
7. University's decision:
- VU's decision concerning the assessment of eligibility for the Scholarship is final, and no right of appeal exists for unsuccessful applicants or in cases of scholarship withdrawal.
8. Amendments:
- VU reserves the right to make changes to these terms and conditions without notice. Any changes will be published on the VU website and will apply to future scholarship offers.

Medibank School Leavers Merit Scholarship
Are you an international student completing Year 12 or International Baccalaureate studies in Australia in 2024? Select Victoria University (VU) as your first preference in your VTAC application and you could be eligible to save an extra $5000 off tuition fees with the Medibank School Leavers Merit Scholarship.
Four scholarships valued at $5000 each are available to outstanding high school graduates starting undergraduate studies at VU Melbourne in February 2025. The scholarship will be applied to your second semester fees, alongside the VU Block Model International Scholarship.
Please note: This applications for this scholarship closed on Friday 24 January, 2025.
In order to qualify for this scholarship, you must:
- be applying from Australia
- be a current year 12 student in Australia, graduating in 2024
- be an international student holding a valid student visa or planning to apply for a student visa prior to the VU program commencement
- submit your application via VTAC and receive an offer from VU for a higher education diploma or undergraduate program
- not be an existing VU student.
The total value of the scholarship is $5000. This is a one-off payment to be paid to your Australian bank account after the census date for Semester 2.
Applications are now closed for this scholarship.
- The application close date is Friday 24 January 2025.
- Successful applicants will be notified by Friday 31 January 2025.
- Scholarship selection is based on academic merit and the written statement provided in your application form.
- Successful applicants must accept their offer of admission to VU (including payment of applicable deposit fees) and join Medibank Comprehensive OSHC (arranged by VU) by Friday 7 February 2025.
- This scholarship is not refundable.
- This scholarship cannot be deferred to another intake. Successful candidates must commence their VU course in Semester 1, 2025.
- This scholarship is only available to non-existing VU students.
- This scholarship is for eligible students commencing a higher education program or bachelor degree at VU in Semester 1, 2025.
- VU or Medibank may profile scholarship recipients.
- Successful applicants will be invited to an induction session.
- Successful applicants must have Medibank Comprehensive OSHC arranged by VU and maintain the membership. Failure to do so will result in the need to repay the scholarship fund.

Australia Awards Scholarships
Australia Awards scholarships are long-term development awards, offered by the Australian Government and administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
They aim to contribute to the long-term development needs of Australia's partner countries.

Foreign-government funded scholarships
The following are some of the larger scholarship schemes that we have with governments outside of Australia. If you are a national of the country listed, you may be eligible for that scholarship.
China Scholarship Council (CSC) – Victoria University Postgraduate Research Scholarship
The China Scholarship Council – Victoria University PhD Scholarship is jointly funded by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and Victoria University. It is available to citizens of the People’s Republic of China who are enrolling in a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program at Victoria University.
Current first-year full-fee-paying Chinese PhD or PhD (Integrated) student who wish to apply for the CSC scholarship are eligible to submit an EOI. If successful, the duration of enrolment already consumed will be deducted from scholarship duration.
Scholarship value & entitlements
Victoria University will provide:
- A full tuition fee scholarship for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) for a duration of up to four years.
- A supplementary top-up to the CSC living allowance, bringing the total stipend to a level equivalent to VU’s standard RTP stipend, for a duration of up to four years.
The China Scholarship Council (CSC) will provide:
- A living allowance of approximately $22,800 per annum (2026 rate), including Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
- One return airfare (subject to scholarship policy).
- Coverage of visa application fees.
Application process
- Submit your CSC Scholarship expression of interest application to Victoria University via [email protected] with the following documentation:
- Most recent qualification certificates and academic transcripts achieved.
- Research proposal.
- 200-word personal statement – include your reasons for wanting to undertake this research, and your academic path or trajectory.
- Up-to-date CV.
- Signed HDR prospective supervisor form (you are required to seek in-principle support of supervision).
- Please note that the application process is conducted in two stages. The first stage involves submitting an application to Victoria University together with your CSC Scholarship Expression of Interest. Once successful, you will be invited to proceed with an application for an Offer Letter.
- After you receive an Offer Letter from Victoria University, you can then submit a separate application to the CSC via their website before the CSC application deadline https://www.chinesescholarshipcouncil.com/
Applications close on 1 February each year the scholarship is offered.
East-Kalimantan Provincial Government scholarship program
The East-Kalimantan Provincial Government scholarship program (Kaltim cemerlang scholarship) offers scholarships to eligible Indonesian nationals interested in pursuing higher education qualifications at overseas institutions, including Australia.
The scholarships are available for postgraduate studies at VU.
Eligibility: Citizen of Indonesia, studying a postgraduate qualification.
Value: Tuition fees, living allowance and single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).

The Split-Site Masters Program (SSMP) is a co-sponsorship between an Indonesian Government Organisation (IGO) and Australia Awards Indonesia for masters degrees offered jointly by Australian and Indonesian universities.
The SSMP program requires at least one academic year of study at an Indonesian university, followed by an additional academic year at an Australian university, resulting in the award of two master’s degrees from two respected institutions within a related field of study.
In the 2025 round, Victoria University successfully obtained SSMP approval for the Master of International Community Development in collaboration with Universitas Brawijaya.
The Ministry of Higher Education in Kuwait offers a range of scholarships to eligible Kuwaiti nationals interested in pursuing higher education qualifications at overseas institutions, including Australia.
These scholarships are managed in Australia through the Kuwaiti Cultural Office in Canberra.
Eligibility: Citizen of Kuwait, various study levels.

Previous scholarships
The VU International Scholarship supports new international students who commenced their higher education diploma, undergraduate or postgraduate (coursework) studies in 2023.
Value: 10% tuition fee reduction for the entire standard duration of eligible courses (calculated from the date of commencement to the course end date in the letter of offer).
Eligibility: New students commencing a higher education diploma, undergraduate or postgraduate (coursework) course with VU Melbourne are eligible. English courses, Foundation Studies, VET and Research courses are not eligible for this scholarship.

- New students receiving advanced standing for previous studies are eligible for the VU International Scholarship for the remaining standard duration of eligible courses.
- Students with approval to reduce their study load are eligible to receive a reduced scholarship, based on the number of units taken (pro-rata).
- Students returning from approved Leave of Absence (Intermission) are eligible to continue receiving the scholarship until the course end date in their letter of offer.
- Students will continue to remain eligible to receive the VU International Scholarship providing they pay all tuition and additional fees/costs in full by census date each study period and meet the conditions of their student visas.
- Scholarships only apply to eligible students during their period of study at VU and cannot be allocated retrospectively to students who are no longer enrolled.
- The University’s decision concerning the assessment of eligibility for the scholarship is final, and there is no right of appeal should the student be unsuccessful in securing the scholarship or have the scholarship withdrawn.
- Victoria University may make changes to these terms and conditions without notice.
The VU Global Leaders Scholarship ended in 2022 and new applicants are no longer eligible to apply. The terms and conditions below are for the benefit of enrolled VU students currently receiving this scholarship.

- Students with approval to reduce their study load are eligible to receive a reduced scholarship, based on the number of units taken (pro-rata).
- Students returning from approved Leave of Absence (Intermission) are eligible to continue receiving the scholarship until the course end date in their letter of offer.
- Students will continue to remain eligible to receive the VU Global Leaders Scholarship providing they pay all tuition and additional fees/costs in full by census date each study period and meet the conditions of their student visas.
- Scholarships only apply to eligible students during their period of study at VU and cannot be allocated retrospectively to students who are no longer enrolled.
- The University’s decision concerning the assessment of eligibility for the scholarship is final, and there is no right of appeal should the student be unsuccessful in securing the scholarship or have the scholarship withdrawn.

The Pathway to Victoria Scholarship allocation ended in 2022 and new applicants are no longer eligible to apply. The terms and conditions below are for the benefit of enrolled VU students currently receiving this scholarship.
Terms & conditions
- A limited number of scholarships will be available and awarded at the sole discretion of the University on a rolling basis.
- This scholarship can be awarded in conjunction with another VU scholarship.
- Students who have received a scholarship or sponsorship from another organisation are not eligible for this scholarship.
- Students must accept their full offer within two weeks of the date on the letter of offer, and before the scholarship allocation has been exhausted.
- Successful applicants will be notified in their full offer letter. Unsuccessful applicants will not be notified.
- The scholarship will be released to eligible students after the first census date of the principal course. To remain eligible to receive the scholarship, students must:
- make satisfactory academic progress and maintain full-time study load in the pathway course to remain eligible.
- successfully transition to the principal course and have remained enrolled past the first census date of the principal course before the end of 2023 to remain eligible.
- Students who defer or take intermission during the pathway course will become ineligible.
- The Pathway to Victoria Scholarship is not refundable or convertible to cash.
- The Pathway to Victoria Scholarship is not transferable to another individual, course or commencing study period.
- The Pathway to Victoria Scholarship cannot be deferred into commencement in a new study period without reassessment of eligibility.
- Students studying at Victoria University Sydney are not eligible for this scholarship.
- By accepting the Pathway to Victoria Scholarship, students agree to the conditions and requirements of this scholarship.
- Scholarships only apply to eligible students during their period of study at VU and cannot be allocated retrospectively to students who are no longer enrolled.

The VU Future Leaders Scholarship (International) ended in 2021 and new applicants are no longer eligible to apply. The terms and conditions below are for the benefit of enrolled VU students currently receiving this scholarship.
Terms & conditions
- The VU Future Leaders Scholarship (International) is awarded at the sole discretion of the University.
- Students must pay the required tuition fee deposit to accept their offer. The remaining balance is due before the course start date.
- Students who have received a scholarship or sponsorship from another organisation are not eligible for this scholarship.
- Current VU students changing from one course to another with advanced standing (credits) are not eligible for this scholarship. Students who have completed a bachelor-level qualification at Victoria University and are applying for a postgraduate qualification are eligible.
- After two semesters of study, students may be eligible for an extension of this scholarship. The extension is valued at 10% of the semester’s tuition fee for the remainder of their studies. Students must maintain a 60 course Weighted Average Mark (WAM).
