On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
Critically review and explain the connection between number concepts and the real-life application of mathematics;
Investigate and develop a repertoire of effective learning and teaching strategies relevant to the number and algebra curriculum;
Devise, apply and evaluate activities that cater for the learning needs of primary students;
Exhibit mathematical pedagogical content knowledge required for teaching number and algebra in primary and middle school; and
Critically review and formulate student-centered tasks to demonstrate an understanding of how the mathematical proficiencies and literacy support students’ learning.
