Overview

Excel in our data-driven world with the Knowledge Management unit.

The world today is rich in massive data and human and non-human interaction (e.g., robots and intelligent agents). As a manager, you will need to identify the data and information valuable to your organisation and use this in combination with digital technologies. Your role will be to improve knowledge management: the sharing, transfer and exchange of information.

In this unit, you will:

  • work on knowledge management challenges, such as knowledge loss, security, ethics, efficiency and relevance
  • investigate emerging trends, including artificial intelligence, collective intelligence, agile methodologies, open innovation, and co-creation
  • learn how digital technology can mitigate knowledge risks that all organisations face
  • use gamification and chatbot design, to develop human knowledge management skills
  • understand the interrelationships between intelligent ICT and knowledge management challenges.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Synthesise and apply knowledge management theory and concepts to analyse practical knowledge issues to address digitalisation and big data in organisations;
  2. Critically evaluate priorities and articulate key issues in complex knowledge management problems related to human and non-human interaction and address collective learning;
  3. Analyse the role of big data and analytics in organisational knowledge management; and,
  4. Compose and exhibit creativity in knowledge spaces by working collaboratively, professionally and effectively with self-directed skills.
